Early in life, your children will learn the difference between doing what they need versus what they want, and what their priorities should be. A routine takes the guessing factor from my daily plans. Not that they ever go to bed when they are supposed to! But that’s another story.Īs a mom who needs to run a house, to teach three different grades to my children, and to work from home every day, having a plan in place makes my days run smoother. I also notice that having a routine in place makes my children feel somehow grounded, they know what they are expected to do when they get up when they finish their meals, or what time they need to go to bed. In my almost nine years as a mother, I have always run better having a routine in place. I am not talking about a set schedule for everything, but a routine that flows naturally with your family rhythms. To teach kids independence and responsibility, have a routine in place. How to Teach Kids Independence and Responsibility 1- Have a Routine in Place: As I learned from a friend, we are not raising kids – we are raising adults! Adults who we want to be independent and responsible. It is very important for us, as parents, to teach our children very early in life to be careful and responsible for what God has entrusted in our hands: toys, clothes, money, food, our house, etc. Well, I don’t really have to do everything because they need to know that they also have their share of responsibilities in our house. They are three and I am just one to do everything. There are no doubts I am outnumbered here. ![]()
